Tough Naitasiri forward, Timoci Sinate is aware of the stiff competition ahead of him if he is make the final cut in the Fijian Baabas 7s squad.

The 27-year-old told SUNsports yesterday that he is marching into camp with one thing on his mind and that is to make the final squad.

“I know other players will be coming in with that mind frame as well,” Sinate said.

“All players are the best from their club and to be part of this squad is a big challenge. We have set our eyes on the top spot and it won’t be an easy task. I’m happy to be selected to be part of the squad and it has been my dream to don the white jersey. I’m getting there but the big challenge is to be selected and you need to go through the hard pace.”

Sinate said, he started playing rugby while in primary school.

“Rugby was the game we play in the school and also in the village. I’ve been playing from that time, right throughout high school and until now when I’ve joined Wardens. It is a perfect time to show what I have.

“Some of the challenges I face is to get my fitness level up and sometimes when we are in the off season we tend to loosen up but I’m working on that and my aim is to get a contract. But right now my main focus is to wear the white jersey.”

Similar sentiment was echoed by Warden’s Sevuloni Tawake who said that he is keen to make the final cut.

“I’ve been part of the squad last year so I know how it feels like to be called in so it’s nothing new. There are a lot of competition in the team and a lot of good players to. I started playing 7s way back in 2009 and I’ve played in some big tournaments like Marist and Nawaka.” Edited by Leone Cabenatabua
