Group Donates $200K Towards PMs Relief Fund

The Tourism Action Group (TAG) donated a cheque of $200,000 towards the Prime Minister’s Relief Fund at the Fiji Airways Hanger yesterday.
The cheque was handed over by the Fiji Airways Executive General Manager Sales and Marketing, Andrew Stanbury.
Mr Stanbury said the group had been running a series of events globally to help those affected by TC Winston.
“Earlier this year after TC Winston, the group got activated and dealt with a series of initiatives around a global network to ensure that the momentum of tourism in Fiji was protected,” he said.
“These series of initiatives allowed our industry partners to answer the question of how can we help.”
The Attorney-General and Minister for Economy, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum, acknowledged the contribution made by the Group.
While accepting the donation, Mr Sayed-Khaiyum said he had attended one of the fund raising events organised by Fiji Airways in Auckland this year.
“I happened to be at an event in Auckland and I was quite amazed to see a large number of people who turned out”.
“Thanks to Fiji Airways for facilitating events where they could come and participate and contribute,” he said.
The Minister for Economy said he was pleased to see foreigners’ interest in our economy.
“It also goes to show that there are many people out there who care about what is going on in Fiji,” he said.
