Government vessel, MV Cagivou loaded with emergency relief supplies left Savusavu Jetty for Qamea Island yesterday.

Also on the vessel, was a Government assessment team.

The team consists of the Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF) engineers, Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport engineers and representatives from Ministry of Health and Ministry of Education.

The Government assessment team will be returning tomorrow.

It is understood that this trip bound for Qamea Island was scheduled for Monday. But it had to be rescheduled because of rough seas.

The emergency relief supplies includes food, clothes and tents.

A major landslide at Dreketi Village during the Tropical Depression over the weekend caused major damage.

A school suffered complete damage, a health centre was displaced and thrown out to the sea, a community hall was destroyed and 12 houses were buried.
