An excited 54-year-old Setareki Bai was among many shoppers in the capital city of Suva who made a last minute dash to the supermarkets to shop for Christmas.

Mr Bai and his family were excited to see Santa Claus arrive at the MHCC Shopping Complex, and grabbed the opportunity to take a picture with him.

He is looking forward to celebrating Christmas with his family at home.

“I am excited but at the same time we have to think of those who are less fortunate to celebrate Christmas the way they had planned because of the recent flooding.”

Originally from Rewa, Mr Bai said the recent flooding did not affect his home or village.

Going back down memory lane, he said his teenage days were much more fun filled with laughter and plenty food during the festive season.

“I really miss those days but we cannot get those days back,” he said.

Christmas arrived a day early for staff and customers of MH Superfresh in Tamavua, Suva.

And to top it off, Santa Claus was at hand to wish the staff of MH Superfresh Bread Lovers an enjoyable festive season. The celebrations started at 7.30am yesterday.

Litia Mariko, 25, of Rotuma said this was the first time she experienced Christmas celebration while working.

Ms Marama is a service staff and cashier at MH Superfresh Bread Lovers. She was delighted to meet Santa Claus yesterday morning.

“This is the first time I have experienced a beautiful celebration while working and I thank the management of MH for bringing Santa Claus here to entertain us and the customers.

“It was certainly a fun-filled day with lots of laughter. We all enjoyed our work as  Santa Claus was with us for a while,” Ms Marama said.

Vasemaca Marama said the MH Christmas surprise gets better and better every year.

“We have Santa Claus come here but this year it was even better to see all the staff and customers enjoying it to the fullest,” Ms Marama said.
