The Namosi Rugby Union (NRU) aims to go higher next season.

NRU president Eneriko Cakaunivalu said they’re hoping to make it to the final of the Skipper Cup in 2017.

“The boys gave their all and played well all throughout.  The toughest team we faced this year was Nadroga,”he said.

“They gave us a good game in the final and we’re hoping to improve on our weaknesses.

“Nadi came in hard on us but we kept our cool and played our hearts out. Suva gave us a good run and tested our resolve.

“The Skipper Cup competition and the Farebrother Sullivan challenge were good and even though we’re ranked fourth we still managed to show how good our team is,” Cakaunivalu said.

“We faced financial difficulties as we didn’t have any gym and we had to hire a bus to come to Suva for training two days in a week.”

Namosi Rugby hopes to secure a three-year deal with a local retail giant next month.
