It was a proud moment for Divisional Police Commander Eastern, Maretino Qiolevu on Wednesday.

DPC Qiolevu graduated with an Executive Masters in Business Administration degree from the Fiji National University. He completed it over three years while still working.

“It was a humbling experience to finally achieve this and setting an example as a leader,” said the Cakaudrove native.

He said it was very tough in the beginning especially for his family, but was thankful to God and the support from his wife, Salaseini Qiolevu and his family.

“There were times I wanted to throw in the towel, but it was through the encouragement of my family that I made it through,” he said.

He joined the Fiji Police Force in 1987 and has served for 29 years.

He was Commanding Officer of the Mobile Special Response Unit in Nasinu before being transferred to his current post.

The father of four encourages all young people out there to work hard and to not give up and to pursue their dreams despite the competitive market out there.

ACP Qiolevu is the eldest of seven siblings and the first one to be recruited in the force.

“My long-term plan is to contribute to nation building and right now my future, I still have a lot to contribute,” he said.

Seven other Police officers also graduated with him at the FNU graduation at the Vodafone Arena in Suva.
