Police are investigating an alleged attack on an officer late Thursday afternoon.

Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro said a Police officer was attacked with stones by an unknown person while out investigating a robbery case in Tamavua-i-wai.

“The attacker threw stones at the Police vehicle with three officers while the driver sustained injuries and the vehicle also being damaged,” Ms Naisoro said.

Police Chief of Operations, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Rusiate Tudravu said the Police force were concerned about the incident where their officers were injured while carrying out their duties.

“The officers were out on the field investigating a robbery case in Suva and some people decided to take such action which is something we will not take lightly,” he said.

“The officers were conducting their investigating their case when they were thrown stones and the driver was injured with the police vehicle damaged as well.

“We urge the community to work with us so we can take people in who are responsible for the action.”

He said the Police force was not taking the incident lightly and would investigate till the unknown person was taken to task.
