Red Cross Society Bring Relief To Victims Of TD04F

While most in the country were enjoying the Christmas festivities with their family members, 70 Fiji Red Cross Society staff and volunteers spent the long weekend delivering food items and hygiene packs to those affected by TD04F.
Fiji Red Cross Operations manager, Eseroma Ledua said: “We have prepared ourselves for the cyclone season and stocking our containers with the necessary items and emergency kits.”
“We have a lot of active staff and volunteers who responded right away in the flood and bad weather faced during the Tropical Depression 04F,” Mr Ledua said.
“The only problem we faced was trying to get into some of the remote areas.
“It was hard to get into some of the villages because of the floods and mud.
“By tomorrow we should be able to finish all the distributions but we are on alert for any further needs arises,” Mr Ledua said.
He said he was grateful to the staff and volunteers who spent their festive holidays helping families in need.
“We distributed hygiene kits, dignity kits for ladies, loose clothes, blankets, cooking sets and shelter tool kits with food items,” Mr Ledua said.
