Simply The Best

When the going gets tough, Jone Luvenitoga gets going.
He plunges into floods to get photos that tell the story.
He spends days travelling storm battered islands.
He works in difficult conditions to show in words and photos the resilience and courage of the people.
That’s the spirit which epitomises why his work covering the floods and landslides in Tropical Depression 04F has now been recognised with an award.
Mr Luvenitoga, our senior photojournalist, was among Fiji Sun staff members receiving special recognition awards at an end-of-year thanksgiving lunch for staff.
The citation for his award written by Managing Editor News Jyoti Pratibha said in part: “Stood in chest high, raging floodwaters for hours to get perfect pictures for our newspaper. True professional. The type of photojournalist other news organisations wish they had. Totally dedicated.”
Mr Luvenitoga was amongst the original team who started in our newsroom when the Fiji Sun was established in 1999. He later worked for other newspapers like the Daily Post and the Fiji Times.
But he returned to the Fiji Sun as we continued to grow as Fiji’s most read newspaper.
There’s no better place for photojournalism than the Fiji Sun, he says. Number One.
We’re glad he thinks so.
So do our readers. They enjoy his number one photojournalism. Simply the best.
