The Fijian Under-21 netball management have made changes to the squad for the Pacific Netball Series which will be hosted in Fiji on January 11.

Three members of the Fijian U20 netball side who toured New Zealand for the Oceania World Youth Netball Championship qualifiers have been dropped.

They are New Zealand-based Verona Kaitani, Ivamere Soko and Julie Tamani.

Assistant coach Filomena Korovulavula said they have to give first chance to local players.

“The focus in this series is to prepare the Oceania teams for the World Youth Championships and we will also work on our combination,”Korovulavula said.

“We have to first give chance to our local girls, this will be the right time for them to prove themselves.”

The girls worked on their fitness during the festive season.

“We’ve been doing a lot of work on our fitness, strength and conditioning and I’m   impressed with the performance.

“The girls have been doing really well.”

The next fitness test will be on Thursday.

The World Youth Championship will be held in Gaborone, Botswana on July 8-16.
