Late Major Rayawa Will Be Buried Today

The late Major Ratu Sefanaia Naulumatua Rayawa will be buried today.

The former military officer and founder of the Good News Care Ministry in Nausori will be buried at the chiefly burial ground at Nabudrau Village, Noco, Rewa.

The ministry  comes under the Assemblies of God Church.

Major Rayawa was the son of the late Tui Noco, Ratu Josaia Naulumatura Rayawa.

His wife, Timaima Rayawa, said she would miss his great personality and generosity.

His ministry catered for young people.

Mrs Rayawa said it was his calling from God to look after youths who were unemployed and school dropouts.

Mrs Rayawa said he treated all the children who came under the ministry equally.

He found employment for them and taught them the word of God.

“The ministry has touched more than 100 youths,” she said.

“I will miss his personality most of all, one thing he liked to do is organise events and bring people together,” she said.

Major Rayawa, 52, was a member of the Republic of Fiji Military Force since 1984. He served  in Sinai, Lebanon, Kuwait and East Timor.

A friend, Captain Eroni Duaibe, described him as a gentleman because he empowered people that he met especially with youths in his ministry.

He was presented with various commendation awards.

His also an ordained minister of the Assemblies of God church.

Major Rayawa graduated with a Bachelor in Politics and Management and a Masters in International Relations from the University of the South Pacific.

He is survived by his wife, two children, and a grandchild.
