The alleged break in by intruders at the Lami Town Council Office was a ‘peculiar one’, says council special administrator Jasper Singh.

Mr Singh said the break-in which took place the weekend before Christmas.

“We noticed that the traffic and enforcement section desks were damaged, the drawers were left open whereas the other sections were left untouched,” he said.

“The next morning one of our staff noticed that the back door of the office was open and when she entered the office, the staff noticed it was broken into.”

Mr Singh said the intruders didn’t steal any item from the office like laptops or any other gadgets.

“It was unusual, they didn’t steal anything but they went through files in the traffic and enforcement section, before when our office was broken into they will take the laptops and other gadgets,” he said.

“The intruders specifically targeted a particular place looking for documents.”

Mr Singh said the issue was now before the Fiji Police for investigations.

“We have given footages of the break in to the Police and they are now handling the case,” he said.

“There were several involved in the break in and we have been told by Police not to enter the premises while they carry out investigations.”
