In a bid to secure the Mana Whey Fijian Coral Coast 7s 2017 next month, the Pio Tuwai -captained McDonald’s Saunaka team will feature some of the Fiji’s finest rugby reps.

The side is laced with Olympians Masivesi Dakuwaqa and Vatemo Ravouvou, Samu Saqiwa, Waisea Nacuqu and Senivalati Ramuwai.

Former national 7s rep Saqiwa said the team had been looking forward to the tournament targeting the main prize.

“We have been preparing for the last three months playing in major sevens tournament around Fiji. We treat all the team with respect,”Saqiwa said.

“We know all the participating teams will be strong and that’s why have been preparing well.”

In 2016 Saunaka won the Vutia 7s in Rewa, Nacula 7s in Yasawa and Burenitu 7s in Ra, and qualified via the Top 4 in the Coral Coast.

“We know other teams will also be preparing well for this tournament since it is one of the biggest competitions in Fiji. But we believe that only the team that works the hardest will get the reward.”

Club president Ratu Ponijese Lou Rayasi said the team has been preparing well for the tournament.

“Our aim in 2017 is to win this tournament, the boys have also been doing their own training in the past two weeks and we have been monitoring them very well.

“They have gym session at 10am and 3pm training at the Api Toga Oval ground.”

The Mana Whey Fijian Coral Coast 7s is now in its 7th year now and will be held on January 18-21.
