The McDonald’s Saunaka Under 19 rugby team will be going for glory as they make their debut at the Uprising Youth’s 7s.

The tournament will be held at Lawaqa Park, Sigatoka, on January 18.

Team coach Kamanieli Tuiwasa said some of the players  were playing in Saunaka’s senior team during the season.

“Our boys have been preparing very well for the tournament, and training has been conducted well,” Tuiwasa said.

“This is the first time for our Under 19 team to take part and we hope to showcase some of the boys talent.”

Saunaka Rugby president Ponijese Rayasi said the team is looking forwards to a good outing.

He said some of the players will shine in the coming years.

“Selectors should really keep a look out for these young boys during the tournament,” he said.

“Training has been conducted normally and the boys are also taking their initiative to do their own training.”

Other teams that will also be participating in this tournament are Natabua Youth, Ratu Filise, debutant Nailaga (Ba), Suva Grammar School, Marist Brothers High School, Navosa Central College, Ratu Kadavulevu School, and defending champions Lelean Memorial School.

The event is part of the MANA WHEY Fiji Coral Coast 7’s fiesta.
