About 170 traffic infringement cases and three drinking and driving cases were recorded over the last 24 hours, said Director of Traffic, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Mahesh Mishra.

SSP Mishra said: “The police operation so far was successful.

“We have put all our efforts together to see how best we can provide service to our community.”

While people were celebrating to welcome 2017, the Fiji Police Force team was on the ground to ensure people followed the road safety rules.

Leading the team was SSP Mishra and Police Chief of Operations, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Rusiate Tudravu.

They were out with their Police teams to ensure people’s safety.

There were about 100 police officers deployed to ensure people’s safety in Suva on the New Year’s eve.
