Baby Ulaiasi May Be First Born In 2017

A Lautoka couple are over the moon at having their first child born at the strike of midnight, and is probably the first baby delivered in Fiji for 2017.
Letila Bulivou, 23, of Yadrana Village in Lakeba, Lau, was still smiling yesterday when the Fiji Sun visited her at the Lautoka Hospital, despite having to endure a caesarean delivery.
Baby Ulaiasi Tukai, weighing a whopping 4.08 kilograms was the centre of attraction for relatives who were present at the Maternity Unit yesterday.
Perhaps the happiest of all was Ulaiasi’s father, Pete Sorowale, who was forever planting kisses over his first child.
Sorowale, who hails from Vanuavatu, also in Lau, said he and his wife were happy with their little son.
“I wanted a boy and I am so happy,” Mrs Bulivou said.
The couple live in Waiyavi in Lautoka and there are plans for a big celebration when mum and baby are discharged.
Lautoka Hospital recorded four more births on New Year’s Day.
