The Catholics yesterday marked the memorial of the Solemnity of Mary, Mother of God at the Sacred Heart Cathedral in Suva.

They also had their procession from the Flea Market to the church.

The president of the World Apostolate of Fatima-Fiji Veronika Tabua said: “For Catholic Churches January 1 is very important because it is the Solemnity of Mary, Mother of God.

“So we are for greeting 2017 and we always dedicated it to Mother Mary.”

They also planned for the Apparitions of Our Lady of Fatima which will be held on May 13, this year.

“I want to tell the whole nation that we need to believe in Mother Mary, she is not only mother of Jesus Christ but everyone,” said Ms Tabua.

“If only everybody believe in Mother Mary and know the role of Mother Mary and place of Mother Mary in our lives as humanity.”
