Fijian Barbarians 7s player Ratu Seru Cavuilati’s father is proud of his son achievement.

And former national 15s rep Ratu Nemani Cavuilati wished his wife was alive to share his happiness.

Ratu Seru departs with the Barbarians for Sudamerica Sevens Tournament in Uruguay and Chile today.

“I’m thankful to Almighty God for helping Seru as he has been trying to wear the white jersey,”Ratu Nemani said.

“It has been awhile when someone from our family gets to wear the jersey again and we’re proud of him.

“Seeing him growing up and joining the Republic of Fiji Military Forces and being part of the Army team that won the International Defence Rugby Tournament last year in England, was another proud moment for our family.

“Seeing his passion for rugby, we could tell that he is a blessed child.”

Seru plays for Natakala Rugby Club which takes part in the Tailevu Rugby Union competition.

‘The vanua and the people are relying on Baabaas to do the job wholeheartedly and with their outmost best and make everyone proud,”Ratu Nemani said.

“They have a duty to perform and I hope they do it with dignity and pride for Fiji.”

Cavuilati was emotional when he spoke about his wife Arieta Cavuilati who died two years ago.

‘What Seru missed a lot is his Mum.

“She always prayed for him since Tu Seru is always the different one in the family.

“I know she will be smiling down on him and surely God has answered her prayers,” he said.

Telu, as he is commonly called, is the third eldest of five children and he hails from Verata, Wailevu village in Tailevu.
