A Nasinu resident was overwhelmed with the countdown at Albert Park with the Fiji Broadcasting Corporation New Year party early yesterday. He vowed he would return every year.

“It was one of the most entertaining parties I have attended so far,” Gerrard Prasad said.

“The countdown was just a totally different experience altogether.”

Another partygoer vowed he would return with his family next year.

“This was the first time for me to take my wife and children to FBC’s street party,” Jerry Kafoa said.

“I am enjoying it and I will now bring me family to the street party every year.”

Mr Kafoa joined the thousands who arrived at Albert Park before midnight to welcome in the new year.

Mr Prasad said he was entertained and enjoyed the countdown to 2017 with a live performance by the Rako Pasifika band and FBC’s radio personalities from six different stations.

“The most interesting part of the street party was when the FBC staff joined the crowd to welcome the New Year by splashing water on everyone,” he said.

The crowds were also given an opportunity to show their dance moves in the final hour of 2016. People from all ages enjoyed the street party.

“I would like to say a big Vinaka  to FBC for organising such a bash,” Mr Prasad said.

16-year-old Junior Apisai said: “This was first time for me to come to the FBC’s street party with my family members.”

“I am enjoying the music.”
