NewNet Yasawa looks forward to making their debut in the 2017 Mana Whey Coral Coast 7s on January 18-21 at Lawaqa Park, Sigatoka.

“We got confirmed to play in the Coral Coast 7s three weeks ago,”team manager Tom Bruce said.

“We’ve been quite consistent in the past few months and we are definitely looking forward to play in the Coral Coast 7s.

“We definitely want to make it into the top two. We know there will be some international teams so that is a boost for us to try and win it as well.

“We went in as underdogs during the Marist 7s tournament and likewise for the Coral Coast 7s.”

Bruce is hoping national 7s rep Kalioni Nasoko will be released to play for the team.

The team played a warm-up match against Uluinakau at Buckhurst Ground in Suva last Saturday which was an important game for new players to prove themselves.

“We were runners up during the Fiji Bitter Marist 7s and played well in other tournaments so the boys are pretty excited and geared up,” he said.

“We hope our skipper Kalioni Nasoko, who is in the Fijian Barbarians team, will be released to join them.

“Some of our senior players are injured and others have moved on to other clubs.

“The warm up match against Uluinakau is really crucial for the new players if they want to make it on to team for the Coral Coast 7s and it will also give them some confidence.”
