The beginning of 2017 has unfortunately recorded two suspected drowning cases both from the Western Division.

The first case recorded at Tavasa Settlement, Navosa whereby a man believed to be in his late 30s went swimming with family, during which he complained of having chest pains.

The victim from Buabua, Lautoka shortly afterwards went  missing and a search was conducted where he was found a few meters away. He was taken to the Keiyasi Health Centre but was pronounced dead.

In the second incident a man believed to also be in his late 30s allegedly drowned while swimming with family in the Mulomulo river yesterday afternoon.

When family members noticed him missing a search was conducted and his body was found.

Post mortems will be conducted for both victims to determine cause of deaths as investigations continue.
