Clubs Aim To Develop Players

Two teams are hopeful to win a spot in upcoming national tournaments after doing well during the annual Tui Suva volleyball tournament at the Suvavou foreshore yesterday.
Del Air Eagles and Nailoni volleyball teams have expressed their interest in joining the Suva Volleyball Association to showcase their talents.
Eagles captain Manasa Tuilau said since this is their first tournament they have learned a lot.
“Our team consist of youths from the Seventh Day Adventist and Methodist churches,” he said.
“This is done for the betterment of all youths in the Delainavesi area. Ever since we joined we have seen a decrease in criminal activities in our area.
“Also our youths have come together which is something good. We have a few experienced players that are playing with Suva clubs and also have players that have just left school. We’ve brought them in especially the young players to develop their knowledge of the game.
Nailoni team manager Vetaia Delaiverata said their plan is to join Suva Volleyball and try to upgrade their skills in order for their boys to join the national team.
“Twelve years of experience in playing volleyball our boys are matured enough to face any tough competition so we’re hoping to get a spot to play in the Vulaca competition,” Vetaia said.
