The people of Moce Island in Lau living in Suva chartered the MV Liahona I to take their late chief’s body to the island.

South Island Shipping operation manager, Ben Cavu confirmed to the Fiji Sun that the Liahona 1 left for Moce Island on Sunday carrying the late Ramasi of Moce, Setareki Malapo.

He said the vessel would return to Suva soon after the chiefly funeral at Nasau village.

“We’re expecting the vessel to arrive today,” he said.

He said the Liahona 1 would continue with its normal trip as soon as it arrived.

The funeral of the late Malapo was on Monday.
