Under the radar?
A case of a Police officer allegedly assaulting his wife appears to have gone under the Police radar. But the community where the incident allegedly happened is talking about it and the alleged reconciliation efforts.
We hope it is not true. But if it is true, it requires an immediate internal investigation.
House of sadness
There is a house at Ratu Dovi Rd in Suva that has been filled with sadness since October 2, 2015. That was when it’s owner was killed after an accident in which a South African diplomat, allegedly under the influence of liquor, was involved.
The diplomat escaped justice and returned home to Pretoria under the diplomatic immunity privilege.
He later died under undisclosed circumstances.
Before he died, negotiations at diplomatic level centred on compensation for the victim’s family.
Lest we forget, the family is still waiting to hear about the outcome.
Power-cuts
Residents in the Suva – Nausori corridor were getting a little bit irritated about the continuing power cuts in the area.
One concerned resident called those in authority to find out what was really going on.
They were informed that it was because of the fireworks that have affected the power lines.
Missing the media
How come there was no official earthquake alert sent out to all the media from our local authorities?
The only official update all local media outlets received was when the Tsunami warning was cancelled.
Of course by this time, many people were on their way home and business as a result had to shut down for the rest of the day. At a loss to national productivity.
Tsunami cancelled, please return to work
All sorts of hashtags were evident on social media yesterday after the tsunami warning was cancelled – like this one:
#BacktoworkNothome #NotPublicHoliday
And there were those who congratulated their colleagues for finally taking a long, brisk walk – up a hill after a long time.
