A former local payment officer of the Bank South Pacific has been charged with 19 counts of obtaining financial advantage.

Paulo Tevita, 29, appeared before the Suva Magistrates Court yesterday.

Tevita has been remanded by Magistrate Waleen George until he presents two suitable sureties tomorrow.

It is alleged that between June 15, 2016 and August 31, 2016, Tevita, while being employed by BSP, made transfers to his sister’s account a total amount of $130,282.92.

Police Prosecutor Sergeant Mohammed Farook served full phase disclosures and informed the court that no recoveries were made.

Tevita has sought for Legal Aid representation.
