HFC Bank, Fiji’s only local bank, plans to deepen its retail banking business this year.

In 2017 the bank aims to focus on its retail business segment with structural changes, expansion programmes and enhanced service delivery.

This was highlighted by the bank’s chief executive Ross Munn.

Mr Munn said HFC would open its main branch in Ganilau House, Suva and would relocate its Nakasi branch from Tebara Plaza to the new Rup’s Bazaar complex in Nakasi.

“These expansions will provide more accessibility to our retail and business customers,” said Mr Munn, adding they would also extend their banking hours at the Nakasi branch once it was operational.

“The bank is also exploring to increase its footprint with a new branch in Ba. The bank also looks at rolling out the banking agency business, targeted to retail and rural segment before end of June.

“HFC Bank will continue to expedite projects on hand.

“That includes improved technological system with customer alert services by end of January and enhancements of internet banking services with biller pay services by February.”

Mr Munn added the bank was reviewing its technological platform with view to improve services and reporting line, especially in foreign exchange and international business.

“With these expansion plans and to be more customer centric, equal attention will be given to the compliance, risk management, asset quality and governance of the bank,” he said.

Mr Munn said 2016 had been a challenging year for the nation because of Tropical Cyclone Winston and together with government initiatives they were at the forefront to assist their customers recover.

He added the historic Gold medal win at the Rio Olympics by the Vodafone Fijian 7s team and their association with Fiji Rugby Union was a proud achievement for them.

“So the year is quite exciting for us and we have lot to offer to our customers with our exciting products and services.”
