Fiji’s very own model, Phillipa Steele, has successfully secured her fifth contract with the Italian modelling agency, Independent Model Management.

She now looks forward to securing two more contracts which includes one from London.

The 20-year-old who began her international career with Trump Model Management in 2013 says she had to spend two months of last year with the agency in Milan, Italy, to impress them for the contract.

“I am signed with Independent Model Management, they were actually a male agency and just about five years ago they started taking in calls too,” Ms Steele said.

Ms Steele is now back at her home in Kulukulu, Sigatoka for holidays but is currently working with a foreign scout for photo shoots in the country.

Post vacation however, it will be all travelling for Ms Steele.

She will depart for New York for Fashion Week from where she will travel to London after which she will go to Italy to sign her contract.

So far, for Ms Steele, her modelling career has been a successful one as she had all the opportunities to work in the biggest modelling arenas.

But during an interview with Fiji Sun, she said she was trying to take her time out for her studies.

She said all this while she was trying to return to Fiji to study she had been offered modelling jobs abroad which she took.

Ms Steele wants to be a lawyer.

But at the moment she is excited about her work in London.

“Just before I came home, I was contacted by an agency in London and they asked if I could sign in with them.

“They look after models and actors as well so a lot of big actors are with them, I am pretty excited to go there too,” she said.

Recent, Ms Steele did a video commercial alongside America’s Fashion Model and girlfriend of singer Zayn Malik.

Another addition to her portfolio at the age of 20 has been modelling for the singer Kanye West’s fashion brand, Yeezus.

She has modelled for world re-known brands such as Prada.

While she has had the best experience of her modelling career, she said there were also hard times that she endured, mostly being in competition amongst over 2000 top models from all over the world at single audition.
