At least Eight SODELPA Members of Parliament have reapplied to stand for the 2018 General Elections as party candidates.

They are Semesa Karavaki, Niko Nawaikula, Jiosefa Dulakiverata, Ratu Sela Nanovo, Ro Kiniviliame Kiliraki, Aseri Radrodro, Mosese Bulitavo and Mikaele Leawere.

But Mr Dulakiverata said almost all current SODELPA MPs in Parliament have reapplied.

MPs Viliame Gavoka, Salote Radrodro, Ratu Suliano Matanitobua and Opposition leader, Ro Teimumu Kepa couldn’t be reached for comment last night when this edition went to press.

Suspended Opposition Whip, Ratu Isoa Tikoca, said yesterday: “I am not in a position to say anything and these are all confidential information for the party.”

Mr Karavaki confirmed he was among sitting SODELPA MPs who have reapplied.

“Yes we all applied but I am not in a position to speak for others, I will only speak for myself and I am positive that they will give me another chance to stand in the next general elections,” he said.

Ro Kiniviliame said he remained positive too.

“Yes, I have reapplied to stand for the general elections as a SODELPA Party candidate,” he said.

Mr Leawere said he would wait on the panel to finalise their decision before he released any comment.

“Yes I have reapplied, I can’t say anything at this moment, I will let them decide,” he said

Mr Nawaikula said he was hoping to be given another chance to stand for the next general elections in 2018.

“I did the same as others did, following the process of application,” he said.

Ratu Sela also shared similar sentiments hoping to be given another chance to stand for the next elections.

“I am in Kadavu at the moment, whatever is happening with the party in Suva I am not aware of this, but yes I have reapplied,” he said.

Mr Radrodro said he had put in his application at the party’s headquarters in Suva and was awaiting their decision.

“I am positive that they will give me another chance to stand for elections in 2018,” he said.

Mr Bulitavu said he would hand in his application soon.

“I just returned from Rotuma and I am sick, I will lodge the application when I am well,” he said.
