Vatili Dawai hopes his son Kitione Taliga will make a mark in 15s in France.

Taliga, a prominent member of Vodafone Fijian 7s team for the last three years, departed last Friday to join French club, Stade Francias for a short term contract.

But his father was not aware of Taliga’s plan.

“I was informed after the Dubai leg of the World Sevens Series of the interest from a French club,” he said.

“On Friday he asked me to accompany him with his younger brother to sort out his travel arrangements. I waited outside the terminal and he went to the check-in counter and he did not return or even say goodbye.

“But we are all happy for him as it is his choice after all. He is still young and need to experience playing 15s abroad.”

Taliga will replace former 7s speedster Alipate Ratini, who has joined Perpignan.
