Coach to Decide on Final 20

Vodafone Fijian Under-17 coach, Shalen Lal is working around the clock to determine his 20-member squad for the U17 World Cup qualifiers in Tahiti next month.
Speaking to the media, Lal said, he currently has 24 players but will drop four by Friday.
“Right now no one is guaranteed a spot in the final 20-member squad,” he said.
The U17 squad were in Suva yesterday to finalise their visa application after they had to return to Ba last week and prepare the documents that were required by the French Embassy.
“So the 24 players have got their visas and the four players that will be dropped are going to be our non-travelling reserves and still part of the squad if we qualify for the U17 World Cup.”
The U17 national squad leave for New Zealand on Sunday where they will play four warm-up matches.
At the end of the month, the side will fly across to Tahiti where they will play another warm-up match before the playoffs start on February 13.
“From our warm-up matches we are taking into account of injuries and that is why our non travelling reserves have got their visas and they can join the team if needed,” Lal added.
