A man who allegedly stabbed a  man on his yacht on Fantasy Island in Nadi last year appeared at the Nadi Magistrates Court yesterday.

Shalendra Sinha, 38, of Malolo in Nadi, appeared before Magistrate Siromi Turaga.

He is charged with one count each of aggravated robbery and theft.

The businessman allegedly assaulted 68-year-old Jean Gerber on his yacht, off Fantasy Island

The court heard that at the time of the assault, the accused allegedly stole cash and items amounting to $10,050.

This included a Samsung Galaxy Note5 mobile phone worth $2000, two MacBook Laptops worth $8000 and $50 cash.

The accused was represented by lawyer Kevueli Tunidau while Police Constable Chanika Devi represented the prosecution.

Mr Tunidau told the court that his client was pursuing a building business.

Constable Devi objected to bail. However, Magistrate Turaga granted bail with strict bail conditions.

His bail conditions included a $1000 surety bond and for the accused to appear at the Nadi Police Station three times a week.

He will re-appear on January 25 at the Lautoka High Court for mention.

However, due to other pending cases, the accused is allegedly involved in, he remained in Police custody.
