The Fiji Airways flight bound for Suva from Auckland had to return to Auckland one hour after take-off yesterday.

This was confirmed by the Fiji Airways managing director and chief executive Andre Viljoen.

“Fiji Airways flight FJ430, bound for Suva from Auckland experienced a mechanical issue one hour after take-off and had to return to Auckland,” Mr Viljoen said.

He said their engineers were working on the issue at the Auckland Airport.

“The comfort and safety of our passengers remains our main priority,” he added.

According to Mr Viljoen, they would only resume the flight when it was safe to do so.

He said all their guests were being looked after by the Fiji Airways team in Auckland.
