Somosomo To Remember Dead

The people of Somosomo Village in Gau will gather at the village today to remember the four who died from suspected fish poisoning.
Speaking from Nawaikama Village yesterday, the leader of the grave diggers, Joeli Bale, said they would assemble at Somosomo today.
He said they would recall many stories about the four dead.
Mr Bale said he remembered a freaky story about the late Sekove Vadei and Akariva Malumu.
He said just a day before they passed away, the two participated at the weekly New Year church service.
Soon after they were garlanded, they sat on a tree looking out to sea.
A cousin of theirs jokingly told them that would be their last moment as they would be gone soon.
A day later the two ate the Daniva fish and died.
Mr Bale said for today after the remembrance service they would all join a village feast.
He said daniva was a favourite dish to them but after the deaths they would no longer eat the fish.
The fish poison victims were Sekove Vadei, Akariva Malumu, Manasa Bula and Taveuni Apolosi.
Mr Apolosi went to Somosomo from Navoci, Nadi, and was staying with a Navoci man married to a Somosomo woman.
