Enterprising Nadroga fullback Apisalome Waqatabu has been included in the Telecom Fijian Warriors squad.

This was confirmed yesterday by Warriors head coach Senirusi Seruvakula who indicated that he is working on getting in three more players.

The no-nonsense coach reiterated his call for players to maintain their discipline if they want to make it in rugby.

Seruvakula will be visiting players around Viti Levu where he will monitor their fitness as they prepare for the Pacific Rugby Cup.

“I’m happy with the response from the players as they did their own training during the off season.”

The Eastern players who are from Suva, Naitasiri and Namosi were training at the HPU Gym in Suva while four players were at NASA and the remaining eight players training in Sigatoka.

“I’ll be visiting them on Wednesday and Thursday to check on their fitness level before we march into camp on January 23rd where we will have another fitness test and skills training as well.

“So the boys are having their daily training from ten to half eleven every day and they take a break on Saturday and Sunday.

“Then on our next camp which is in February we will select a 28-member squad for the PRC.

“The boys are coming in good numbers and they know the importance of the off season training as they prepare themselves despite the festive season.

“They still make it to the gym so it’s easy for me because when I come in I just tell them about the game plan and concentrate on their skills.”

This year’s PRC will be staged in Suva from March 10-18.
