Digicel, Punjas Back Youth Netball Comp

Digicel and Punjas have formed a partnership to support netball in the country.
Digicel Fiji head of marketing Sheryl Singh said, netball is a widely participated female sport in the country and they need to raise more awareness and opportunity.
“The youth series is a fantastic way for young aspiring netball players to get more experience and having more playing time so that they are good with the game,” she said.
“We are really delighted that Fiji Netball has secured Australia, New Zealand and Samoa to come down for this youth competition and once again our support is fully behind the Fijian team. We’ll be there to cheer the girls on and we wish them the very best.”
National netball coach Vicki Wilson thanked the sponsors as they play an important role for the progress of netball.
“My aim for this week is to expose as many girls as possible to international competition and this is where Digicel and Punjas play such an important role.
“Without this competition these girls would not get this exposure and we would go away to world championship and they would be so green and they won’t know what to expect and to be able to get a taste of this style of play is something that is very difficult to replicate in training. So once they experience it they will understand why we do this in training,” Wilson said.
