Women abuse triggers magazine publication

Local poet Raveen Kumar will launch a bimonthly magazine to help highlight issues concerning crimes against women.
The magazine titled ‘Angel’, which will feature fashion, modelling and women’s issues will be launched this Saturday at Tanoa Waterfront Hotel in Lautoka.
“I started because of all the crimes that are going on with women and through this women’s magazine I want to contribute in making a change so that people treat them right and equal,” Mr Kumar said.
Mr Kumar has written four books of poetry titled ‘Touched by an Angel’, ‘Strength of a Woman’, ‘Heroes’ and latest one ‘Eeshali’ was launched last November.
Despite suffering from a muscle disease (muscular dystrophy), Mr Kumar of Rifle Range in Lautoka said he was determined to use his stories to continue to spread the gospel caring for people.
He said the nation’s recent upheaval from the number of crimes committed against women had him speak against the merciless crimes and criminals.
“My magazine is a tribute to each and every woman regardless of the profession and career they have taken up,” he said.
Mr Kumar is determined to catch the minds of people of all ages through his magazine and hopes the publication would be a success in the market.
The cover page of the debut magazine, ‘Angel’ features Fiji Fashion Week model, Xin Wei.
