Australia remained the only unbeaten team in the Digicel Punjas International Youth Netball Series last night.

The Australians defeated New Zealand 56-40 at the Vodafone Arena after the teams were tied 13-13 in the first quarter.

“It was the battle of two quarters. The first quarter was really good and in the second, the Kiwis got there free- flowing game going,”Australian coach Tania Obst said.

“I don’t think we responded really well with our defence and we addressed that at halftime. We were a lot happier in the third quarter.”

“We probably got some work to do in that last quarter as well and I was pretty pleased with the way we finished off.”

Obst praised two shooters Sasha Glasgow (GS) and Alice Teague-Neeld for their contribution in the third and last quarter.

Meanwhile, NZ coach Kiri Wills was pleased with the performance and the goal was to test all the players against Australia.

“Some handled it very well better than others.

“Had we shot more we might have a better chance against Australia,” Wills said.
