The Fiji Rugby Union has teamed up with Cure Kids Fiji to support lifesaving solutions for children.

“Rheumatic heart disease in Fiji affects one in 30 children. The disease is a leading cause of death for young people here,” FRU chief executive officer John O’Connor said.

“Cure Kids Fiji is a perfect fit for our charity partner at the Fiji Rugby Awards Night. This is the first time we are working with Cure Kids Fiji and Helping Hands Foundation from New Zealand. We look forward to a long lasting relationship.”

The Fiji Rugby Awards Night will be held tomorrow at Novotel Suva Lami Bay – Entertainment Centre.

Part of the evening affairs includes an auction of sports memorabilia and other amazing prizes.

Helping Hands Foundation will lead the auction and there are 15 items up for grabs including signed All Blacks and Vodafone Fijian 7s signed jerseys.

“Cure Kids Fiji is honoured to have the charity of choice for the inaugural Fiji Rugby Awards Night,”Country Manager for Cure Kids Fiji Sally Cooper.

“With a 10-year history of working in Fiji on life changing solutions for children, Cure Kids Fiji has aligned with some of Fiji’s most prestigious businesses.

“Our foundation partners AccorHotels, FIJI Water Foundation and NZAid as well as ongoing partnerships with Rosie Holidays, Tappoos, UB Freight, Victoria Wines and the PGA of Australasia give credit to the work that Cure Kids Fiji is undertaking.”

Besides the Lifetime Achievement Awards, the people of Fiji are also being given the opportunity to vote for their favourites with the Vodafone Popular Choice Awards. With not much time to go and voting lines closing at noon today.

The Vodafone Popular Choice Awards will be crowning Player of the Year from the Vodafone Flying Fijians, Vodafone Fijian 7s team, Telecom Fijiana, domestic competition and also crowning Fiji’s coach of the year.

Voters can vote for their favourite by texting the code of the 4 nominees from each division to 812 with winners from each division not only being crowned the most popular but also receiving a Samsung S7 phone, compliments of Vodafone.
