Team Discipline Pleases Baber

Vodafone Fijian 7s head coach Gareth Baber is impressed with the players’ discipline in camp as they prepare for the second leg of the World Sevens Series in Wellington and Sydney.
“They have got good discipline and a coach doesn’t need to show or tell them,”Baber said.
“The players seem happy even though they went through a tough second week of training.
“We’ve got another week and a couple of steps forward and hopefully it puts us in good spot.”
Ravouvou and Nacuqu
Baber is proud to guide talented Fijian players.
“Vatemo Ravouvou and Waisea Nacuqu are great players, they can do special things that some players can’t do and I’m fortunate enough to coach players who got talent all over the place.
“But talent alone, doesn’t win tournaments we are looking at areas of our game which we can improve, we will keep our feet on the ground making sure we stick to our plan, keeping the players healthy and pushing ourselves.”
New Tactics
Baber implemented a new training tactics using volleyball balls, soccer balls, tennis balls for players to practice their passing skills.
“Coaches use different things and for me it’s just to stimulate the players.
“If we use different stimuli then it makes them to think a little bit harder on what they doing and make them reflect on it.
“That’s just one method I use.”
Coral Coast 7s
Baber will be at the Coral Coast 7s next week and scouting for new potentials.
“I’ve never been to a country that gets access to 7s tournaments and blown away at the quality of players here.
“This is the best time to scout for new potentials.”
