Accused Raj Sent Back To St Giles

A man who is charged with one count of absconding bail, two counts each of impersonation of a health inspector and obtaining financial advantage by deception was sent to St Giles Hospital for a psychiatric evaluation.
Magistrate Jioji Boseiwaqa made this order after accused, Binesh Kumar Raj, created a commotion in court, seeking various orders.
Raj also alleged brutality and bribery by Police officers and prosecutors.
He was supposed to take his plea yesterday at the Suva Magistrates Court. This was deferred as he had not engaged a private lawyer.
Raj told the court that he could not do this because he was in remand.
He further said that he wanted to lodge a complaint at the Central Police Station for his alleged assault by Police officers.
Magistrate Boseiwaqa told Raj to get his psychiatric evaluation done first before any other matters are looked into.
Raj was admitted at St Giles Hospital for a psychiatric evaluation last year where he escaped.
The case was adjourned to January 19, for mention.
