Vodafone Fijian 7s coach Gareth Baber had his first training with the players at the sand dunes in Sigatoka yesterday.

And the Welshman believes much is to be gained from the gruesome training.

“It is the first time for me to be here with the boys. The boys need to lift their intensity and work rate,”Baber said.

“You need to do more work in fitness in 7s as players need to be in peak form at game time.”

Dranisinukula, Lomani

Baber is impressed with the performance of new squad members Paula Dranisinukula and Frank Lomani.

“I’m been pleased with the contribution of the group in the two weeks we have been together,” he said.

“Dranisinukula and Lomani worked hard and bonding well with the team.”

The squad returns to camp on Monday.
