The Volkswagen Amarok is a pickup truck produced by Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles (VWCV) since 2010.

It is a traditional body-on-frame truck with double-wishbone suspension at the front and leaf springs at the rear.

The Amarok range consists of single cab and double cab, combined with either rear-wheel drive or 4motion four-wheel-drive.

It is powered by turbocharged gasoline or turbocharged direct injection (TDI) diesel engines.

Ten reasons why Amarok Ute is the best:

  1. More Durable – 10,000km Service Intervals.

When you drive off in your brand new Amarok you won’t see the guys at the service center until you’ve clocked up 10,000km.

That’s quite the distance, especially when other Utes have a service interval of 5,000km.

These long service intervals are achieved with smarter design.

  1. More Pull – Truck Heritage 2.0L Engine With More Torque.

The Amarok’s 2.0 Bi-turbo engine is essentially a downsized truck engine and has the same reliability and extreme endurance expected of heavy haulage truck engines.

It’s a smart engine and delivers 400Nm of Torque from 1,500 rpm

  1. More Traction – The Only Full Time 4WD Ute Available In The World.

There are plenty of 4WD utes on the market, but only the 8-speed automatic Amarok is full-time 4WD.

The 4WD system in the Amarok is the innovative Volkswagen 4Motion system.

  1. More Technology – 8-Speed Automatic Transmission.

The Amarok is the only ute in the market with an 8-speed auto gearbox to give you plenty of pull at the low end and plenty of fuel capacity at the top.

The two “overdrive” gears at the top end for low rev cruising are designed to conserve fuel, translating into one of the best fuel efficiencies available.

  1. More Safety – Most Advanced Electronic Stability Programme Available.

Every Amarok has a full Electronic Stability Programme (ESP) and Electronic Differential Lock (EDL) package.

  1. More Room – Widest Tray In Its Class.

The Amarok is the only double cab ute on the market which can carry a full size pallet on the tray between the rear wheel arches.

And to make the truck even more useful, lashings have been placed around the space where loads are mounted to add stability.

Being the widest ute on the market also has other advantages – like a little more space when strapping two kids in the back seat.

  1. More Practical – A Tailgate You Can Lift One Handed, And Not Because It’s Light.

The Amarok is fitted with a heavy duty tailgate capable of supporting heavy loads as part of an extended load bed (500mm extension).

The Amarok is the only ute on the market fitted with a life assist spring called “comfort close” meaning you can close the lid easily one handed.

  1. More Comfort – Unique Rear Spring Pack Offering Most Comfortable Ride Of Any Ute On The Market.

The Amarok’s heavy duty rear spring pack is unique, giving it class-leading comfort on the road. It’s the only ute to have the rear springs positioned outside the chassis rails rather than underneath.

  1. More Efficient – Class-Leading Fuel Efficiency.

Fuel efficiency as good as 7.3l/100kms makes the Amarok one of the most frugal utes available and contributes to extremely competitive total cost of ownership.

With its 80 litre tank you can take the 4WD Amarok all the way from Auckland to Christchurch without visiting the gas station.

  1. More Control – Hill Hold Assist (HHA) and Hill Descent Control (HDC)

Hill Hold Assist

Handbrake hill-starts are a thing of the past.

The brake is then gradually released as the vehicle moves off.

The Hill Descent Control (HDC) assists the driver in steep downhill situations by actively braking the Amarok in order to permit a safe and controlled descent.

The required speed can also be controlled using just the accelerator pedal without a gear engaged.
