FIJI CAN: GREGAN

Wallaby and rugby legend George Gregan believes the Vodafone Fijian 7s team under new coach Gareth Baber call pull a win at the Caketin during the Wellington 7s later this month.
Gregan, who retired as Australia’s highest ever internationally capped player with 139 caps, was inducted into the Walk of Fame at Sigatoka Town during the first day of the Mana Whey Coral Coast 7s yesterday.
He was in Dubai during the first leg of the World Seven Series and was impressed with the Fijians’ performance.
“There is an air of expectation every time Fiji plays especially after winning the first gold medal for Fiji at the Olympic Games in Rio last year,” Gregan said.
“I expect them to make it even though they are in a tough group with South Africa, Australia and Japan.”
He added players should learn new things from Baber.
“The players have been playing together for a number of years and new reps should gel in well under Baber.”
After unveiling the plaque yesterday, Gregan said, “Firstly it is very humbling for me and my family. We are very honoured to be remembered this way.”
He added being in Fiji, reminds him when he married his wife in 1998.
“Fiji is very dear to our hearts. Watching the rugby tournament here I am really pleased to see young people flow around the world in particular the Fijian players showing what they do best and that is playing rugby Sevens,” he said.
