Rampur Primary School will finally have their senior students move in to their own block after waiting patiently for three years.

The primary school, which is run by Rampur Education Society, introduced Years 7 and 8 in 2015 but because of the shortage of classrooms students had to attend classes at Rampur College.

But a building grant from the Government and leftover funds from last year allowed Active Constructions Joinery Limited to go ahead with building the $260,000 double-storey block.

Rampur Primary School head teacher Ansuya Chand said they were happy about bringing their senior students back to the primary school compound during the groundbreaking ceremony.

“Today (Wednesday) is a special day in the history of Rampur Education Society, after a very long time we are finally building our double story building which will house our Year 7 and 8 students,” Ms Chand said.

“This project started rolling a few years back but due to the unavailability of funds we could not really do anything.

“But now that we have some money from last year and this year’s building grant from the Government, we are able to get the project started.

“The management and teachers were very much happy and excited to have our own Year 7 and 8 classrooms and these students will not need to go to the high school anymore for their classes.”

Ms Chand said the students of the two classes were excited to finally have their classrooms.

“The kids are really excited to finally have their own block and be back in our compound, they have been attending classes at the high school for the third year now, so they are really happy,” she said.
