U 17 Beats Auckland City

The Vodafone Fijian Under-17 won 3-1 in their second build-up match against Auckland City Youth in New Zealand yesterday.
The goals were scored by Kishan Sami, Ratu Dau and Iliesa Rakuka.
Coach Shalen Lal said the team was on track for the Oceania Football Confederation (OFC) qualifiers in Tahiti on February 12-18.
“The boys played a good game,” Lal said.
“They performed better than their first game the matches is to gauge the players and how they can improve.
“We face a huge task going to Tahiti because we are up against some big teams.”
Defence and creating chances is still an issue for the team.
“There were times when Auckland City broke through our defence and we cannot afford to let that happen in Tahiti.”
Fiji faces Solomon Islands, Samoa and New Zealand in Tahiti.
“Solomon Islands are a good team, Samoa will also have a few Auckland City players and New Zealand is always a dominant force in the region,”Lal said.
“But we are improving and growing together as a team.”
Fiji play their next game against Onehunga Mangere.
