Speedsters Talica Vodo and Timaima Ravisa scored a brace of tries as Telecom Makosoi defeated Japan 42-7 to retain their Crest Na Iri Trophy yesterday.

Laced with Fijiana reps, the Iliesa Tanivula-coached sidec outclassed their opponents in all facets of the game at Lawaqa Park in Sigatoka.

The other tries came from Lavenia Tinai and Ana Maria Roqica as they led 35-0 at halftime.

Japan managed to score a try from the tournament top tryscorer (9) Mayo Shizu

Roqica said the team trained hard for the past four weeks.

“This is also a good preparation for the Sydney 7s next month,” she said.

Coach Iliesa Tanivula applauded the girls for their effort.

“It was a good hit out for the last two days and it was all about implementing what we trained for.

“We crossed the line so many times in the finals, good effort by the girls.”

The team won $10,000 while Japan returned home $5,000 richer.

Japan coach Hitoshi Inada was proud of her team’s achievement and hope to return next year.
