Fire fighters managed to control the fire from spreading to other buildings in Korovou Town yesterday.

The National Fire Authority said in a statement that the fire team used deliveries of water from the fire trucks to extinguish the fire.

They managed to stop the fire from destroying the other two neighbouring businesses: Nayan’s Supermarket which is attached to the Shop N Gain building, and the Ismail and Sons Shop which is located about a metre away from the billiard shop.

Nayans Supermarket director, Kamal Patel, who was at the scene during the time of incident said: “We will wait for an approval from the NFA and Fiji Electricity Authority when to start operations.”

After the fire, supermarket employees were left wondering when they would resume work.

“There are about 26 staff working at our Nayan’s Supermarket branch in Korovou Town,” he said.

Mr Patel said he was thankful to God that his supermarket and staffs were safe.
