The investigation file regarding the alleged rape of an inmate at the Labasa Corrections Centre is still with crime personnel at the Labasa Police Station.
Earlier statements stating the file had been forwarded to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions for sanctioning were incorrect and we can confirm that the investigation is still underway, and that no one has been charged as yet.
Miscommunication of the status of the investigation led to the error and we apologise for the inconvenience caused.
