People using the road along the Martintar section in Nadi, have been advised that disruption is expected. This is because a full road reconstruction is scheduled from April onwards.

This is part of the ongoing Nadi N2 Four Lane Project.

Fiji Roads Authority chief executive officer John Hutchinson said: “The Martintar section from St Mary’s to Wailoaloa Road will proceed into full road reconstruction from April 2017 to May 2018.”

He added the Queens Road/Wailoaloa Road junction will become a controlled intersection.

“The FRA is currently installing the utility services along the right-hand side in order to remove the overhead powerlines along the left-hand side,” he said.

“Once the Fiji Electricity Authority has energised the new cables, the road widening construction will commence.”

Mr Hutchinson has also advised road users that the Nadi Back Road is a viable alternative for traffic heading north from Nadi town.

“We strongly recommend that drivers alter their preferred routes and utilise this option,” he said.

Furthermore, Nadi Chamber of Commerce and Industry president Ram Raju said development has been flourishing in Nadi Town as far as infrastructure and connectivity are concerned.

He said: “Nadi’s growth has been phenomenal thanks largely to the sound economic policies of the Government.”
