The Ministry of Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation has provided $10,000 to enhance the world of beauticians.

It came with a Memorandum of Understanding signed between the ministry and the Association of Registered Hairdressers and Beauticians (ARHB) in to further encourage Fijian women in the beauty industry.

Representative from ARHB, Vasiti Baledrokadroka, said the grant given by the ministry was to empower hairdressers by offering training to improve the standard of hairdressing in the industry and to protect public health.

“Also, empower women through formal education and capacity building programs in beauty and hairdressing,” Ms Baledrokadroka.

“The ARHB was formed in 2012 and has since promoted training for the hairdressers and funding to be able to offer training. This is the first grant that we have received and training is planned from the February 26 till 29 in Suva and February 29 to March 2 in the West.”

Minister Mereseini Vuniwaqa, said the grant was a support from Government to the association in light of capacity-building and to carry out training for association members.
